These flags were made by a very special woman who is dear to our heart.

Her name is Andrea, we met Andrea on our first missions trip down to Mexico. She is currently living in Tijuana, Mexico at a refugee center called Ciudad de Dios.

Andrea originally came from Michoacán, Mexico, where she grew up in extreme poverty. Her mom came to the states when she was 8. Because of this, Andrea grew up working at taco stands to support herself. She basically raised herself. She had two kids with abusive men at ages 15 and 20. Because of the abusive relationships, violence, and manipulation, she left Michoacán and travelled over 1,500 miles to get to Tijuana with just herself and her kids. When she got to Ciudad de Dios, she had so much trauma that it was hard for her to trust others. She felt isolated and alone. And despite being so far away, she still feared that the violent men from Michoacán would follow her.

Initially, Andrea only planned on staying at the camp for 6-12 months before going to the states. However, while Andrea was staying at the camp, she met Jesus. Because of this, she felt a call from the Lord to stay at Ciudad de Dios and help the hundreds of refugees there as they navigate displacement, hardships, and a shot for a better life.

Despite her own personal hardships, Andrea chooses to lay her life down for those at Ciudad de Dios. In order to support herself and help others, she started sewing.

By purchasing this flag, you are supporting Andrea’s dream.

Thank you.
